Full Steam Ahead

Things are becoming a reality here at Source Vintage. It’s full steam ahead to get our beautiful website and online shop up and running so you awesome people can start purchasing our finds! We’ve just completed our first photo shoot, with the final images to be used as the cover shots for our website. We approached the delightful Leyah Shanks of ‘The Body Confidence Revolution’ to model for us and I’ve got to say the results are truly special. For those of you who don’t know, Leyah works tirelessly to raise awareness of some very important issue, in particular mental health and positive body image (http://iamleyahshanks.com/). Leyah is a true inspiration and it is great to have her on board.

Behind the camera we were also extremely lucky to have the very talented Sandra Platas Hernandez (http://www.sandraplatas.com/gallery). Sandra did an incredible job and we can’t wait to show you the final images! Certainly, we couldn’t be happier with the results and I truly believe that Sandra is destined for a very bright future.

At Source Vintage we are passionate about promoting positive body image and gender neutral style, and, therefore, it was important to us that our vision and ethos came across in the cover shots, and I believe we achieved this beautifully. However, I’m finding it very difficult to talk about the shots we achieved without desperately wanting to show you them! They’re sooooo good!! But as they say, “all good things come to those who wait”. So behave yourselves you lot!

As a location for the shoot we secured ‘Titan Props’ in Glasgow. This place is fascinating and has an eclectic mix of the very weird and obscure, and will blow your mind. With some extreme Scottish weather happening outside throughout the shoot (hailstones the size of golf balls and a good ol’ belting wind), it created a bit of a spooky feel in the prop house, as you can probably imagine from the photos. The shoot lasted for a good five hours and we had free rein of all the props in the store which meant we could have some fun too! Ha!

Overall, it was the perfect first shoot to set us on our way and a great experience for me personally, with it being my first photo shoot EVER!! Next up are the catalogue shoots for our online store. I’ll be posting more updates on our road to launching so keep following, keep it real and keep spreading the Source Vintage love! xxx
